Økologisk rabarber med en mere syrlige smag end jordbær rabarber.

Den bliver ca. 50-100 cm høj og 30-50 cm bred.

Man mener at sorten er krydset tilbage i 1930´erne.

Efter anden verdenskrig ville man i Danmark være uafhængige af forsyninger fra andre lande. Derfor opkøbte staten de større gårde, der var i økonomisk bekneb.

Man dannede statshusmandsbrug, hvor små produktioner af generelt mangfoldige fødevarer skulle afsættes lokalt i de større byer på torvene.

 

Svendborg Vin og Konserves var ejet af Coop/FDB. De skulle til at producere vin af frugt, fra lokale producenter, herunder også rabarber. I samme tankegang om, at være uafhængig af rød/hvidvin fra andre lande.

Sorten fik derfor sit navn eller synonym ’Svendborg Vinrabarber’, af vinproduktionsformålet. Man fandt dog hurtigt ud af, at smagen på rabarbervin ikke var den helt samme, som sydlandske rød-og hvidvine.

Skrønen omkring vin/jordbærrabarber er også en saga for sig.

Det kan deles ind således.

Man kan sådanset sige, at ’Svendborg Vinrabarber’ både er en jordbær -og en vinrabarber – da den er gennemrød.

Det grønne i stænglen kommer i forbindelse med højere temperaturer. Derigennem vækster rabarberen meget, der dannes derved mere klorophyl.(grønkorn)

Ordet jordbærrabarber kommer af to sammensatte ord. Jordbær og rabarber. Man ønskede en sort, der kunne bruges til marmelade produktion, som var gennemrød.

”Fyn er Danmarks Have” udtrykket stammer fra andelstankegangen og de statshusmandsbrug som blev dannet på det tidspunkt.

 

Rabarber er en hårdfør staude, hvilket betyder at den vil komme igen og igen år for år.

Product description:

Organic Rhubarb with a rich, sour flavor.

It will grow about 50-100 cm wide.

State farms were formed, where small productions of generally diverse food were to be sold locally in the larger towns in the markets.

Svendborg Vin og Konserves was owned by Coop / FDB. They were going to produce wine from fruit, from local producers, including rhubarb. In the same mindset of being independent of red / white wine from other countries.

The variety therefore got its name ‘Svendborg Vinrabarber’, from the wine production purpose. However, it was soon discovered that the taste of rhubarb wine was not quite the same as southern red and white wines.

The story of wine / strawberry rhubarb is also a saga in itself.

You can say that ‘Svendborg Vinrabarber’ is both a strawberry – and a vinrabarber – as it is thoroughly Red.

The Green in the stem is associated with higher temperatures. As a result, the rhubarb grows a lot, thereby forming more chlorophyll. (Green grains)

The word strawberry rhubarb comes from two compound words. Strawberries and rhubarb. They wanted a variety that could be used for jam production, which was thoroughly Red.

The term “Funen is the garden of Denmark” originates from the co-operative thinking and the state farms that were formed at that time.

Rhubarb is a hardy perennial which means that it will grow year after year.
